Day Two: The Writing Journey Continues
After what felt like a million-billion years, I finally kicked off my one-hour-a-day writing commitment yesterday. Day One was a mix of determination and silly distractions, but I made it through.
Yesterday’s start wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. Today, I’m feeling a bit more focused, a bit more prepared, and just as committed.
After a fun jiu-jitsu session this morning, I stopped to grab some fresh veggies for the guinea pigs. Back at the house, I showered, threw my gi in the wash, and now here I am, sitting with a heating pad on my quad—thanks to a sore knee that’s been throwing off my gait. Yesterday my hip hurt from it, and today it’s cramping up my thigh.
But despite the aches and chores, I’m here, ready to write. Now, it’s Day Two, and the momentum is building. Momentum sounds like a big word for two days, but on the journey to Day 100 the Day 2 is pretty important.. right?
Do you know what I do?
Today, I realized that I don’t advertise what I do enough. Not being naturally salesy, but needing to earn cash, is not the best combo.
Someone who has known me for over a year asked me what I do for cash. A bit thrown-off, I mumbled a few lame words. Then he mentioned he could have used my services. He recently bought polos for his business from a company he found, paid way too much for the creation of a childish logo, and received super cheap shirts. The logo looked like a sticker, and the shirt didn’t wash well.
Dang.
And! Someone close to me recently hired some other graphic artist for a custom invitation. Oh! You do that?
Wow.
Sooo, I’m using my hour of writing to come up with an elevator pitch…….
“Hello, my name is Kimberly! I’m a proud grandmother, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast, and a creative powerhouse with a passion for graphic design and apparel printing. With a history of building websites and managing social media accounts, I also run my own hosting company. Now, I’m focused on taking my creativity to the next level by building my online presence through my lifestyle blog, Instagram, and YouTube. I’m excited to offer custom apparel designs, graphics, and printing. Let’s collaborate and create something amazing!”
How’s that? LOL, not sure where I’ll say that. Not even sure it is something I would say or if that is what I’ll keep as my elevator pitch. Though, it was fun narrowing it down!
Oh! Notice, in this version, I didn’t add that I recently got my real estate sales license here in New Jersey. More about the why later. Not that it’s an exciting or earth-shattering explanation, it’s just that…….
Hour’s up.
Reach out to me with who you know who may need social media graphics, a YouTube header, Twitch overlay, business card design, website design, e-mail signature graphic, baby shower invitations, and of course — apparel printing.
Hugs!
Enjoy a maaaavelous Monday!
